Network names - SSID
Each network Access Point has a name called SSID / ESSID which it broadcasts to Wi-Fi 802.11b standard clients. On the Stour Valley Wireless network we have set these to the location name prefixed by SVW so the SSIDs look like this:
SVWMtBures
SVWBures
SVWLamarsh
SVWWorkHouseGreen
SVWLtCornard
SVWGlemsford
The SSID is cAsE sensitive so must be entered into your wireless client with care. If your wireless client device has a survey mode use this to find the Access Point. If possible do not tie your client to a specific BSSID (MAC address) as this may change if the Access Point require replacement in the future.
The network does not use WEP security so you can associate easily, you will however require your PPPoE username and password to gain access to the Internet.
